Hobbies and Pursuits: Running (lifetime
pursuit)
Accomplished 14 marathons, several 24 Hr. relays (best avg=6:38 per mile), 50
mile run(8 hrs, 46 min). Best time in 10 mile race - 49:30. Best time in 10K -
33:20. Now retired from running, mostly, unable to achieve world fame.
Piano
Started self learning in April, 1998, using Alfred's Course for Adult
Beginners. Now at intermediate level, where I will no doubt remain forever.
Ragtime is hard, but it is one of my favorite genres. A favorite is the
"Peacherine Rag", written by Scott Joplin in 1907. Also working on Beethoven's
"Moonlight Sonata", which is almost slow enough for me to struggle
through it. I'll never be any good, so I'm not quitting my day job.
Tournament Bridge
Life Master with 1600 ACBL Master Points, 16 Regional championships. Biggest
win: 1st place in district 6, 1998 North American Teams, flight B. My wife and I love duplicate
bridge and play whenever we get the chance. However we are definitely mediocre
compared to the really good players in the U.S.
